What Are Snap-On Implant Dentures?

Restore Your Bite With Both Functionality And Appearance

Also known as snap-in smiles, overdentures, and implant-supported dentures, snap-on dentures stay in place by snapping into posts implanted in the gum. These denture implants provide more reliability and stability than removable dentures as they don’t move around as much. They use the remaining teeth, root structure, and jawbone to hold the dentures in place, allowing you more freedom to eat and drink.

Snap-On Implant Dentures vs All-On-4 Dental Implants

What's The Difference? Which Implant Solution Is Right For Me?

There are major differences between implants and snap-on implant dentures. The biggest difference is all-on-4 dental implants stay in your mouth permanently while snap-on implant dentures are removable.

All-on-4 dental implants are more expensive than snap-on implant dentures because they consist of natural-looking teeth implanted permanently into titanium posts and they don't have a gum base. An implant overdenture however, is a removable denture that snaps onto multiple implants. Because they require less implants than all-on-4 or all-on-6 dental implants, snap-on implant dentures can be a more affordable alternative.

Am I A Candidate for Snap-On Implant Dentures?

For patients who want a fixed, permanent solution but may not qualify for traditional implants

Anyone looking for a beautiful smile is a good candidate for snap-on dentures, especially those with missing teeth, gaps, stains, cracks, or discolored teeth. Thus, if you were told that bridges or implants are not recommended for you, snap-in dentures may be the ideal solution and the best alternative to standard dentures.

The following candidates should consider snap-on implant dentures:

  • Those who lost multiple teeth due to cavities, gum disease, fractures, etc.
  • Patients with existing prosthetic devices who are unable to eat, talk, or function properly
  • Those who already have traditional dentures but are looking for more stability
  • Candidates who lack enough bone to support conventional dentures

How Our Process Works

number 1

Free consultation

We start with a free consultation where you meet with a specialized team who takes a 3-D scan of your teeth, which is also free.

number 2

implant procedure

Your implants will be inserted chairside by an oral surgeon and a cosmetic dentist using sedation dentistry with an anesthesiologist. Once completed, you will leave with standard dentures to wear for three months, giving you enough time for your implants to heal.

number 3

Your dentures are snapped in

After three months, the third and final step takes place when you receive your snap-in smile or prosthesis implants.

Why Choose ProSmile Dental Implant Center

Our specialized teams allow us to be your one-stop-shop for snap-on implant dentures. A cosmetic dentist consults with you as part of your journey, from the initial appointment, to the delivery of your new smile. He works in tandem with a highly trained oral surgeon who performs your procedure, while our in-house anesthesiologist ensures your comfort during the procedure.

We offer a one-year warranty on implants and prostheses (everything within your initial price) included with your treatment. After the 1st year, we offer you a $500 per year optional plan that includes:

  • 2 cleaning/hygiene appointments for your implants and prosthesis: Implants, just like natural teeth, can accumulate plaque and bacteria and fail over time if not maintained properly.
  • Any breaks/fractures or maintenance on the prosthesis

Snap-On Dentures Frequently Asked Questions

What are the costs?

  • 1 team, 1 location, 1 price

  • All-inclusive. Temporary & final dentures or prosthesis and sedation.

  • Implants by a board-certified oral surgeon

  • $12,500 for Resin-based

  • $18k for fixed Zirconia (can upgrade to Zirconia at a later time)

Which factors affect the cost? For example, a required bone graft, number of implants, etc.

No matter how complex your case is, you only pay one price. Other offices may give you a base price, then charge you extra for scan, sedation, or other. Thus, they may also require that you travel to multiple locations. Also, the oral surgeon performing your procedure may not even be board certified.

Is everything done at one location?

Yes. Everything is done at 1 location with 1 special team. This includes lab, anesthesiologist, oral surgeon, cosmetic dentist, etc., all present during your procedure focusing on you only.

How long do snap-on dentures last?

  • Fixed Zirconia with fixed option is built to last. This means you never have to worry about this material fracturing or wearing out over time.

  • There are no rubber attachments to worry about, and maintenance with fixed options is minimal

  • Just like tires that wear, the snap-on rubber inserts used to stabilize the denture should be replaced every 6 to 12 months.

  • We offer implant support and cleaning options to ensure your implant prosthesis remains successful even longer.

  • We provide cleaning and maintenance at the same location to ensure your prosthesis is always working optimally.

How do I care for my snap-on smile?

Like any denture, snap-on dentures need to be cleaned daily to maintain good oral hygiene and fresh breath. While you can sleep with snap-on dentures in your mouth, it is recommended that you remove them before bedtime for routine maintenance and care just as you would with traditional dentures.

To keep your dentures clean and your mouth healthy, remove them each night before going to sleep. Place them in a denture container and soak them overnight in a denture cleansing solution. In the morning, brush your dentures and wipe your gums gently with a soft washcloth before placing your dentures back in your mouth and snapping them back in securely.

How do snap-on dentures work?

Snap-on smile dentures have a built-in mechanism that snaps onto implants inserted into your jaw. This provides you with more comfort and stability than conventional removable dentures.
