With sedation dentistry, your dentist or oral surgeon will give you a sedative to help you relax or even sleep during your entire procedure. It is sometimes also known as sleep dentistry or twilight sedation if you are not entirely asleep and can include nitrous oxide, oral medication, or IV sedation. Types of Sedation Dentistry

Sedation Dentistry Frequently Asked Questions
Because we have our own in-house team, we can offer sedation dentistry at a much lower cost than other providers, and some of that cost may be covered by insurance. Additionally, it is included in the price of certain dental implant packages we offer.
The length of recovery depends on the type of sedation you receive. With nitrous oxide, the process is relatively quick. However, with IV sedation, you may have to wait a few hours before leaving the office.
Dental sedation can last anywhere from two to eight hours, but it will depend on the type of sedation you receive and the length of the procedure. We will help you determine the best course of action for you.
Side effects depend on the type of sedation. After IV sedation, you may experience drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth, headaches, nausea, and other side effects. However, you will have no memory of the procedure, and these effects should fade. With oral sedation and nitrous oxide, you will experience fewer side effects and recover much faster.
Oral sedation usually takes about 20 minutes to kick in. However, we will not begin any procedure or treatment until we are sure that you are fully relaxed and comfortable.
